June 2008

  • Repeat appearances at Strawberry Moon Fayre Festival (Nr Leek)  and Kippertronix Fest (Wales) in June 28 & July 25
  • Band playing at the Love Music Hate Racism rally in Trafalgar Square in London, June 21
  • Headline slot at the Sounds on the Down alternative green festival (Nottingham) – cool day out all the sound equipment was powered by renewable energy, which translated in to the organizers taking it in turns to peddle like mad on a bicycle connected to a dynamo to supplement the solar panels used to charge the batteries. Cool!
  • New video to Living Life released on YouTube

October 2007

  • Some great festival gigs over the summer, notably Kippertronix - an big up to SLAF for putting us on. Bass player Mark injured leg rolling down a hill chasing football. Luckily managed to catch in on video, check it out on the myspace site. Pissed it with rain for most of time
  • Annual outing to Wilkes Head summer all-dayer also top gig despite torrential rain (more so than Stawberry Moon Fayre earlier in season if at all imaginable)
  • Capacity up for it crowd at Kellys in leamington, cheers Mary (Positive Junk Promotions)
  • New Album BA DA BOOM, due to be launched 13 October at the Glebe in Stoke, with Smoke Like a Fish making special guest appearance, should be good. Currently in discussion for European distro  
  • Andy on coronet (small trumpet thingy) out of action for most of summer due to dislocated shoulder & operation, though he did play in Bournemouth with arm at strange angle and a bucket full of pain killers. Rejoined stage in Leamington
  • Steve involved in attempted car-jacking in Brazil, but managed to escape would be captours, Nick went camping in Norfolk, returning home suitably unsullied (unlike his camper van - had to spend band funds on spare parts to get home
  • Bulgarian Compilation SKATEL v2 of European Ska bands on Ruddybeat Records apparently now available (though they never sent us our copies, so its up to you if you want send money there)

February 2007

  • SKALINSKIS to play live session on BBC Radio Stoke's Subculture Show Thurs 1st March
  • Following success of last years pre-fest gig, Smoke Like A Fish have invited SKALINSKIS to appear at main festival
  • Mighty River and Miss Vladivostok tracks to appear on pan-European SKA compilation produced by Ruddybeat records in Bulgaria
  • Following guest appearences during a couple of gigs late last year Andy, one of the infamous Sid brothers, is set to join band on trumpet after he has become a Peoples Hero of the Revolution in Cuba (dont ask)
  • Studio time booked for mid feb to record some new tracks for LP release  

November 2006

  • New gig dates added for  december
  • Next local appearences at The full Moon, Newcastle (November), Reagans in Hanley and The Glebe in stoke (December)
  • SKALINSKIS will be supporting The Aggrolites (USA) at the Glebe Sunday 10 December
  • Two full FREE videos to download now available on www.youtube.com (enter skalinskis into the search box)
    • King Tut Strut, live studio version
    • Live track recorded at the Wilkes Head earlier this summer
  • More radio air play on BBC Stoke Underground show 
  • Chris Sax Skalinski has taken over the skalinskis myspace pages, so expect some changes soon (after he's found the passwords he's already lost!!!)
  • Link to myspace pages from this site has been fixed (originally caused by inept fingers - they only know how to play Am!!!)
  • SKALINSKIS currently in discussions with a secret agent re a possible tour in and around St Petersberg in Russia
  • Former SKALINSKI booking agent, promoter, kung fu pimp daddy and all round tall person Chris Guest recently voted Man of the Moment, 15:47 pm, 6 Oct 2006. Well done Chris, we love you, we dedicate all our songs to you, even the ones we dont play any more

Alors mes amis, apres les grands vacations....

  • New gig dates added for Novemeber & december
  • Myspace link added to the "buy the records" & "visit the links" sections
  • (sorry, havent had time to update the downloads yet, maybe this month...)
  • Next Gig is The Cavern Club, Liverpool, Sept 26 SKA night with 4 other bands
  • Next local appearence will be at The Full Moon in November
  • Cheers to Smoke Like A Fish for putting us on in Newtown, great night
  • Also cheers to Malcom at Wilkes Head, top night with "up for it" crowd. See gig photo's in "live gig shots" in "view the pictures" section. 
  • New secret biographies pages of each band member added, but see if YOU can find the links
  • Apologies to anyone who turned up at the Trentham festival, but we were knocked off the bill by snivelling lilly-livered lardons who dont seem to be able to organize a p*ss up in a rugby club (or something)
  • Recoding time booked in studio for October, new material being worked on
  • Steve has been to Switzerland and put on a clean G-string (on his guitar), while Mark has hoovered his living room, Nick has cleaned his camper van, Chris has got a new day job and Sid has had some more beer. Thats about it for August/September

  • Contrary to popular belief, THE SKALINSKIS have not split up but are very much alive and kicking. Following the self-imposed departure of our previous trumpet player we have been playing a number of low-key gigs while two new members get up to speed. 
  • New brass section consists of Sid (trombone) & Chris (Saxophone)
  • We have already been in the studio and recorded some new material as well as re-working some older stuff. New album due later in 2006.
  • Mp3 downloads to be added to this site in coming weeks/months
